Check Item Terms
| 1 | Geometric element | Defines an object's shape and its position.
Examples: Lines, curves, planes, surfaces of revolution, surfaces |
| 2 | Topological element | Defines the point or line at which each element is joined.
Examples: Solids, faces, edges, vertices |
| 3 | Curve | A geometric element indicating an object's curve shape; an infinite curve. As used for check items, the definition also includes edges. |
| 4 | Edge | Topological elements demarcated by two vertices indicating start and end points. |
| 5 | Edge loop | An outline of a surface comprising multiple closed edges. |
| 6 | Segment | An element comprising an edge. A single curve comprises multiple segments. |
| 7 | Face | A topological element with a base surface trimmed by edges. |
| 8 | Base surface | The original surface to be trimmed. |
| 9 | Surface | Same as base surface. As used for check items, the definition also includes faces. |
| 10 | Surface patch | A lattice element comprising a base surface. A single base surface comprises multiple patches. |
